The Classic Car Show – Sky and the Lamborghini Owners Club

We headed to the annual Classic Car Show held at the Birmingham NEC on Friday 16th November with our tickets kindly being provided by our new friends at the Lamborghini Club – www.lamborghiniclub.co.uk. We were glad to avoid the main weekend rush as this is a very popular show with nearly 1500 cars on display and many more visitors, the show extends over a dozen or so of the NEC’s main display halls and it really is a full day out, or a weekend if you want to take everything in! The NEC is in a great central location which makes this annual show one of the, if not the best, classic car shows in the U.K.

Even approaching the NEC there were a variety of classics and modern cars buzzing around the arena’s roadways and the public car parks were positively packed full of your typical petrol head cars. For a number of years now the Sporting Bears Club have provided charity ‘Dream Rides’ at this show where by members of the public can make a donation to charity and then pick a ride out in their dream car, the Sporting Bear’s members giving their time and cars totally free of charge. What a nice bunch!

I’m a child of the eighties so for me, whilst of course I do appreciate the older classics, I tend to look out for those special eighties and nineties classics, as you’ll probably see from the selections of photographs I took. Our Managing Director David Watson was mainly concerned with only one car, a stunning in blue Datsun 240Z and we made two trips to have a look around it.

It was good to catch up with old friends from the www.mr2mk1club.com who had a variety of Mk1 MR2s on display including a freshly race converted Coupe model from www.stonerracing.co.uk.

Next, we made our way over to the impressive display of Lamborghinis on the Lamborghini Club UK stand and introduced ourselves to Simon Clayton who is the club chairman.

We have very recently commenced what we hope to be a long standing relationship with LCUK and it was great to meet Simon who was friendly and enthusiastic and made us both feel welcome despite being busy talking with and selling club merchandise to the general public.. we were even offered (official) LCUK cupcakes! We look forward to working with this prestigious and very well organised club, it was a pleasure to accept their invitation to this excellent event.

All in all, this was a brilliant day out, I just wish we could have had longer to enjoy it all! If you are a car enthusiast and have not been to the Classic Car Show, we urge you to put it on your calendar of events to attend next year!

Here are a collection of photos we took at the event:
