Customer Cars: Shawn’s Toyota Supra has over 1000bhp!

This extensively modified Toyota Supra belongs to our customer, Shawn. It’s a 1994 UK spec. Originally, it had a 3.0 litre twin-turbo but now it has a 3.4 litre single turbo engine. And guess what? It’s currently running at 1020.6bhp at 1.9 bar but will soon be running at 2.2/2.3 bar (with an estimated 1150bhp) with a final tune. Let’s just let that sink in for a minute…

Having owned the car for nearly 4 years (since January 2015), Shawn is confident in saying that this car has been his all-time favourite to drive. In his own words: “My favourite car to drive, has to be this car. I’ve always been in the tuner scene, where I would rather create my car than just buy it, so supercars have never really interested me. Fortunately, I’m finally in a place where I’m lucky enough to have built my dream spec Supra.”

What does Shawn think?

All of these modifications and power got us wondering… what is it like to own a car like this? To own a car with a four-figure power output. To own a car which turns heads at every corner. Well, we asked the man himself, Shawn. Here’s what he had to say…

The main thing I love about this car is the acceleration. I have always dreamed of owning a car with four-figure power! Finally, I can say I’ve achieved my dream. Although, there’s still plans to increase the power slightly.

One of the highlights of driving this car is actually seeing how people react to it. It makes everyone else happy just by seeing it – it cheers up so many people. I can’t drive anywhere without people getting their phones out to take photos or shouting out how nice they think the car is. People even come up to me, asking questions and talking about it which is so nice. It’s lovely to see that from something as simple as going for a drive, brings joy to everyone around it.

It gets plenty of attention at car shows too. I love taking the car to shows. I’ve always been a Japanese car lover at heart, so shows like Japshow and Japfest have always been my favourite. Saying that, I do like variation, I also attend shows like USC and Trax. I find car shows in general a great day out. It’s great to see what everyone else has done with their cars also. There’s always something new to see.
