Alex’s Toyota Supra MKIV is the perfect blend of modified and performance when it comes to a car. Not only does the car have a comfortable amount of power under the bonnet, it’s also been modified in such an elegant way.

We spoke with Alex, our customer, to find out what makes him tick when it comes to the car scene. Why does he like modifying cars? What garages does he use to perform the modifications? There’s a million and one questions we could ask right now. Let’s find out the answers to some of them…

Alex’s modified Toyota Supra

Alex’s Toyota Supra MKIV is the 1995 pre-facelift version. It has a twin-turbo, automatic (RZ-S) engine which currently gives out 380bhp (at 0.9 bar on stock twins). You may also notice the rather striking colour – this is called ‘6P3 Jewel Green’. This gets a big thumbs up from us. We don’t come across many Supras in this colour.

Q&A with Alex

We asked Alex some questions about his car, his passion for cars, and his plans for the future. Here’s what he had to say…

How long have you owned your current car?

I’ve owned my current Supra for only 4 months, although I’ve had numerous Supras over the past 10 years.

How many cars have you owned in total?

I have owned a total of 24 cars within the span of 14 years.

When did you first discover your passion for cars?

I first discovered my passion for cars when I was around 15/16 years old after going to a car show for the first time. It was called ‘Max Power’ down at Crail! At that stage, the very first ‘Fast and Furious’ movie came out – so from then on, I was hooked!

Favourite tracks in the UK and why?

I’ve only been to a couple of the tracks here in Scotland, these include: Knockhill and Driftland.

Have you used any specialist garages to perform the work on your car?

The car was imported by JM-Imports and they did all of the work upon arrival. I couldn’t be happier with it. The previous Supra I owned was actually built by SRD Tuning.

Do you have any plans to further modify your car?

I would still like to join the 1000bhp club (find me a Supra owner that doesn’t haha). To be honest, with regards to plans in the near future, I just want to enjoy it at BPU level which is around 400bhp.

What advice would you give to someone who wants to modify their car for the first time?

My advice would be to do a lot of research into what you want to modify and start saving! If you’re going to do it, then do it right the first time! I was told when I first started “Buy cheap, buy twice” and I still stand by that.

How has your experience with Safely Insured been?

I’ve been with Safely Insured for the last 10 years and have insured my Supras as well as my R33 GTR with them. I’ve always had a good experience so therefore I’ve always stayed upon renewal.
