The Bedford Autodrome, located in the village of Thurleigh in Bedford, is renowned amongst many for being the track of choice for high performance cars. With 5 miles of track entwined within 384 acres of land, you have plenty of space to put your foot on the accelerator and enjoy the thrill of the ride.

The track itself hasn’t always been the home of high performance vehicles zooming around it at high speeds. The track is built on the north section of the original site of the Royal Aerospace Establishment. In 1999, the owner of the track, former F1 driver Jonathan Palmer and his Motorsport Vision Group converted the site into the track you see today. Overall the process took 5 years to complete.

Within the generous space of the 5 miles of track, are 4 different circuits. These include; SEN Circuit at 2.3 miles long, SW Circuit at 2.8 miles long and the GT Circuit which is 3.8 miles long. Then there are Palmer Sport circuits. Palmer Sport provides driving day experiences designed for corporate events. Guests get to experience the thrill of various sports cars and supercars on various circuits within the track. There’s not only one but a list of cars to choose from on the day – let your threshold for speed decide.

Jonathan Palmer and the MotorSport Vision Group not only created a track to push fast cars to the limit, a workshop was also created for a number of prestigious vehicles whose high speeds can be experienced on the track. These cars include but are not limited to; the Ariel Atom 3, BMW M4 GTP, Formula 3000 and the Caterham 7 Superlight. Remember, also, you can take your own car on the track – it doesn’t have to be a supercar!

It doesn’t matter whether you’re an experienced racing driver or just someone who loves the thrill of going fast, the Bedford Autodrome is designed for everyone to enjoy. The track has no hard surrounding barriers – this is to prevent the users of the high performance cars seriously damaging their cars by running off the track and crashing into the safety railings. Instead, there are ‘run-off’ areas whereby the car will spin on the grass until coming to a stop.

Cars on the track run in an anti-clockwise direction and for many, who drive on it, agree this is a nice change from the standard direction of clockwise.

Fancy a spin?
