This Staff Car Gallery post is all about Nick and his Renault Clio Sport 182 Cup. Nick works in our Sales Department within the Young Drivers Insurance team. From reading on further, you'll find out that he knows a thing or two about cars, as well as insurance. Recently, Nick has even won 'Employee of the Month'.

We initially asked Nick some questions regarding his passion for cars, before we went on to talk to him about his Renault Clio Sport 182 Cup and the type of insurance he took out for his modified car...

When did you first discover your interest in cars?

I first found an interest in cars probably from around the age of 11. Since then my interest has just grown and grown.

What was your first car?

My first car was a Renault Clio (1.2 litre) which we had in the family since new. It was actually quite a fun little car and we never really had any issues with it.

Nick currently owns a Renault Clio Sport 182 Cup 2004, which has a 2.0 litre engine giving out 182bhp. We put some questions to Nick regarding his car:

Has your car changed from when you first bought it, to now?

I have done some modifications to my car since buying it. These modifications include: a carbon front splitter, alloy re-spray in black, inlet manifold re-spray in black, 30mm lowering springs, induction kit, chipped engine, up ratted speakers and Bluetooth connection and quick shift gear linkage.

If the power has increased, how much has it increased by? And how did you increase it?

I can't say for sure as it has not been put on a Dyno since doing the changes but I would say it’s probably increased the power to around 200bhp. This power comes from the chip and induction kit.

Will you be attending any car shows with your car this year?

I haven't made any plans to attend any car shows as yet, however I wouldn't mind going to a couple. Car events are always fun to go to, even if your not taking part or showing off your own car.

Are there any plans to modify your car in the future?

I would definitely say so! I am planning on supercharging it when I have the time and money to do it in addition to a few smaller bits.

Insurance for a Renault Clio Sport 182 Cup

The insurance group rating for Nick's car is 31, which is just above mid-range of the 1-50 group ratings. We therefore asked Nick about the specific type of insurance cover he has in place:

What level of insurance cover do you have on your car? Is it on a particular insurance scheme?

I have comprehensive cover which is actually through Safely Insured. I originally insured my car with Sky a while back, as they are a specialist in high performance and modified cars, so it was defiantly the best company for me - not to mention the price was incredibly low. This was before I even started working at Sky, so it's quite ironic that I actually started working here afterwards!

If you have a modified car or performance car, it's always best to opt for a Comprehensive policy with a particular scheme that suits the needs and requirements of you, your car and its value.

We would like to thank Nick for taking the time to talk with us about his beloved Renault Clio Sport 182 Cup.
