The All-New Audi A5 Performance Car
As of November 2016, Audi will be releasing the all new Audi A5 - the performance car many Audi fans have been waiting for, and the car for which some have already placed orders for. There's no waiting for this car - people want it, and they want it now!
Back in June, they unveiled the new A5 and the S5 Coupé models. The A5 model has a 2.0 litre, twin-turbo engine and has a 7-speed automatic gearbox, with a dual clutch. It will be released on sale in November.
The S5 model has a single turbo with a 3.0 litre engine and comes with an 8-speed automatic gearbox. This model will be released later, in January 2017.
The Audi A5 Performance Car
We all know that Audi produce good performance cars time after time, but according to Audi, the suspension of the whole of the A5 range has been adjusted and "it's better to drive than ever". You also have the option of a 6-speed manual gearbox, or a 7-speed automatic gearbox for the A5.
What are the main changes?
Compared to the old model, there are numerous changes, these include: weight reduction of 60kg, longer wheelbase (allowing for more space inside the vehicle), ability to fold down the rear seats (in effect, to create even more space), and numerous changes to the interior of the car.
The interior of the car has had somewhat of an overhaul. It has now got a dashboard which represents Audi's new 'Virtual Cockpit System' and can be viewed through two different modes - the 'Classic mode' and 'Infotainment mode'. The main areas of information it covers are: driving, media, on-demand, communication, and navigation. There's also a section at the bottom which displays the time and the mileage, as well as the outside temperature. Important warnings and information in relation to the cars engine are in fixed positions at all times. All of this is possible via a 'high-resolution display' which is controlled by the driver, using the buttons on the steering wheel.
But wait, there's more technological stuff on board. You can connect to the internet via a SIM card, connect your smartphone for full connectivity, and there's even an app you can download which allows you to control some of the cars functions (don't worry, the app won't drive the car for you - yet!).
Liking the sound of the new model? Well, if you have £32,000+ spare then it could be yours. You'll be able to get your hands on the A5 from November so there's not much longer to go now. Oh, but if you prefer the sound of the new S5 performance car version, you'll need in excess of £44,000 spare.
The technology backs up the power, and the power is complemented by the stylish exterior and savvy interior. But the question is, is the A5 for you?
