The Jaguar business was originally founded as the 'Swallow Sidecar Company' (S. S. Cars) back in 1922. It wasn't until 1945 that the name was changed to 'Jaguar Cars'. Ever since then, we have seen a truly fabulous array of models produced by Jaguar. Some of these models include: the two-seat E-Type (1963), the XJ220 (1992) which was named the world's fastest production car at the time, and models you see today, such as the F-Type.

As some of you will already be aware, there’s a new model of the F-Type expected in March of this year. The 2017 model of the Jaguar F-Type R is set to be a convertible, and although there's not a huge amount of changes compared to the current model, there's still enough to warrant looking at the specifics a little bit further...

2017 Jaguar F-Type R: What's new?

There are a few specifics when it comes to the exterior that are changing. For example, the bumper will be different, and there will no longer be the presence of 'L-shaped' daytime running lights.

The interior will also boast a few changes. These will include the sporty looking seats being a whole 8kg lighter than those in the current model. The trim pieces will also be modernised.

In terms of the power from the engine, it's rumoured to have the same 5.0 litre engine the current model has. You'll also have the option of a manual or automatic gearbox.

One of the main changes you can expect to see with this upgrade is in the infotainment system. With the competition ever increasing in terms of technology, it's more important than ever that you have the right tech on board. The upgraded Jaguar F-Type will feature an 8-inch touchscreen display. The interface has also undergone a review. As a result of this review, it will now feature a smartphone-like display. You'll be able to access information such as weather and traffic updates (in real-time). So, that's the fun tech discussed. In terms of the practical tech, for those of you who do not like parking, the upgraded model is going to have a 'park assist' feature available. Dreaded parking spaces, you need fear no more!
