What are we looking for?

It doesn't need to have the qualities of La La Land, sorry, we meant Moonlight, or any other Oscar nominated film, it just needs to show the car, it's modifications and for you to tell us a bit about the modifications done to the car and how they were done.

To show you how simple it is to create a video, we created our own video in our lunch hour here at Safely Insured about Nick's Renault Clio Sport (Nick works in our Young Drivers Insurance department) using the YouTube Director App.

The Rules of the Modified Car Video Competition:

  1. Your car must be modified
  2. The video must not be longer than 3 minutes
  3. Entrants must submit their video and complete all fields of the entry form on the CarThrottle website
  4. Entries must be in by midnight on Friday 31st March 2017

Lets get started - what to use to film the video

It couldn’t be simpler making your video for the Modified Car Video Competition. If you do not already have a video editing package, there are plenty of options available – you can even film & edit the video on your smart phone. One very simple & fun option is to use the YouTube Director for Business app available on iPhone or iPad (it was designed for businesses to create ads, but it’s suitable for everyone and works well for this purpose). There are also over options for filming and editing videos straight to your phone – 10 best mobile video editing apps.

The YouTube Director app allows you to film, edit, trim, re-shoot, add voice-over and music, add overlay text and titles. They have made the process so simple, even we managed it!

All videos will be shown on the Safely Insured YouTube Channel. The winner will get an Official CarThrottle video review and will be shown on the CarThrottle YouTube Channel.

Download the YouTube Director app to your iPhone and you can follow the guidelines to create an amazing video telling us all about your modified car – we’d recommend the ‘Featured’ Template ‘How It’s Done – Creation Process’ option - the suggested timings are based on a short video, but you can extend them but remember to keep the video under 3 minutes in total. Once filmed & edited, upload to YouTube (you'll need to create an account if you don't already have one).

With the completed project on YouTube, you can download a copy unto your computer and upload this to the CarThrottle Submit a Video page.

What are you waiting for???

You have four weeks to film, edit and submit you entry to the Modified Car Video Competition - not bragging, but we made the video in 40 minutes! (Well, we're bragging a little bit!)

NOTE: do not use copyrighted music without permission! YouTube offers plenty of ‘royalty free’ alternatives here that you can use instead.
