Track Days

For those who love the thrill of driving, track days are fun, exhilarating and a chance to push your car to its limits. It's also a day which needs preparation, should you be taking your own car around the track. Here are some things you need to consider:

  • Check the cars fluid levels are all set to the correct limits
  • Check the oil level throughout the day
  • Set the tyre pressure to the manufacturers recommended standard
  • Do a 'cool down lap' before pulling into the pits (this allows for air to get into the transmission, engine and brakes)
  • Do not apply the handbrake once you've pulled into the pits (if you do, your brake pads can weld themselves to the discs, whilst hot)
  • Ensure there are no loose items in the car which can move whilst driving around the track

If you've ever been on a track day then you'll be aware of the above points but if you haven't they are worth taking note of. At every track event there should be experienced drivers and marshals who will be able to offer advice and guidance on best practice and what not to do etc.
