So, if you’re planning on making some modifications, or you’re just looking for the right insurance for your car – read on!
What do you class as a modification?
We get a lot of questions asking if certain components classes as a modification. It’s pretty simple for us – anything that has been altered (or added) from factory standard, is a modification. If you’re not sure about something, just ask a member of our team to be sure! We as insurers need to know about all potential modifications to provide the correct cover for your car.
What happens if I add more modifications after taking out a policy?
As mentioned previously, the insurer needs to know every single modification that your car has. If you fail to declare all of the modifications, it could affect the validity of your insurance if end up making a claim. So, if you do choose to add any more modifications – make sure to call up the team to let us know!
Are there any ways that I could get a cheaper premium for my modified insurance?
The (not so) secret way to reduce your insurance premium, is to prove that you’re less of a risk to insure. Some potential ways that could help reduce the costs include:
- Increasing the security features such as an alarm or immobiliser that effectively prevent car theft or break ins.
- Parking your car somewhere safe such as a locked compound or garage.
- Installation of a tracking device for high value vehicles.
- If you don’t plan on doing a lot of miles you could be entitled to limited mileage discounts.
Remember, the price of your insurance premium is dependent on your own unique details meaning a reduction in price isn’t guaranteed.
